About Farmgate Advisory
Our vision is to ‘empower growers through simple, profitable and professional marketing
Our Story
In 2013, Richard Avery observed a need for farmers to add structure to their grain marketing, cut through the clutter of products on offer from buyers, and present the grower with marketing options that best suit them.
Through personal experience and consultation with growers, he found that farmers were inefficiently using time in marketing and acting without a plan. Since this time, we’ve moved to the country to be better in touch with growers and support local communities. We’ve built a successful business on providing trusted and profitable service to growers.
In particular, mixed enterprise farmers when harvest is a hectic time of year and grain marketing doesn’t get the effort it needs. Being able to parcel up multiple growers’ grain and extract a premium in the market; or use our network to arbitrage grade spreads, maximising the value of contracts is what we specialise in.
We understand that harvest is a busy time for farmers, so we make it a priority to simplify grain marketing for them, while doing all we can to maximise returns for grain sales. This extends to all areas of the post-sale service too, negotiating a longer delivery period when harvest gets slowed down, following up with payment quarries and estimating cashflow timelines throughout harvest so you can be best prepared to meet cashflow requirements.
Now being well established in the industry, we’ve found that our place has only become more cemented as the value we generate continues to grow for our clients. Having a pricing model constantly running to ensure we are making the best recommendations for you, comparing CBH vs Bunge bulk handlers, along with the vast network of domestic options is key to this.
Our vision is to ‘empower growers through simple, profitable and professional marketing’. That’s ingrained in the culture of Farmgate Advisory. All our efforts are directed towards making grain marketing more profitable and simpler for growers, so your time can be directed towards your farming business. Everything we do passes through this vision as a filter. Is it making life easier for our client? Is it making their business more profitable? And are we conducting ourselves professionally?
Also ingrained in our culture is an attitude of continuous improvement, and to keep our costs down so we can maximise growers bottomlines. We regularly look for feedback from growers, buyers, bulk handlers and transporters to ensure we are providing the best service and not missing any opportunities.
We’re based in the country because we like living with rural people and immersing ourselves in the unique community lifestyle that can’t be achieved in big cities. It also keeps us better informed of issues affecting our clients, so we can make better, more informed decisions relevant for you. You’re not dealing with a call centre in Perth or Melbourne with us, you’re dealing directly with your advisor who’s just down the road, immersed in the rural community helping keep country towns alive and thriving. We’re proud to be country based and have no plans for this to change. Enough of the rural generated value goes back to the city or interstate as it is, so we have a strong belief that being based in the country not only improves our service and adds value for clients, but also helps support rural communities.
